Circuit Training 2 – Street Run and Park Benches

Today’s 3 mile run included 3 stops at a park bench for a mini HIIT circuit, about 1 mile apart.

My warm up is a total body roll with a foam roller for no more than about 5 minutes followed by a brisk walk for about a quarter of a mile.

My running route is about a 3 mile loop around my neighborhood. To change things up, I’ll stop here and there for some circuit training. Today I simply used a park bench for my workouts.

Pavilion Circuit:
25 Tricep Dips
25 Bench Jumps
25 Mountain Climbers

25 Incline Push Ups
Isolated Step Ups 12/leg
25 Sit Ups
25 (2ct.) Toe Touches
25 Decline Push Ups
25 Low Squat Pulses

Cool down with a quarter mile walk then static stretching for 5 to 10 minutes.

I LOVE this style of training and will post more with different exercises, so stay tuned for workout ideas next week! Have a great day!

DE Squat Day

Stoked about getting back into training!  I’m about 15 weeks out til my next competition, the Texas State Powerlifting Meet April 18th 2015.  I took a few weeks off after my last (and 5th ) competition of 2014 which was on Dec 7th and it feels like forever ago!

I’m looking forward to a new training program which will incorporate more Dynamic Effort days and working with band tension and chains.  I’ll be strength training on M/W/F/Su as well as Spartan Race training with my team every Saturday morning. Cheers to year #2 of continued strength, breaking records and being a bad ass!!

Team “Texas House of Strength” in the Spartan Race, Burnet TX

I’m so proud to have had an amazing group of people run this race as Team Texas House of Strength! Some of us had run this race before, others have done the Tough Mudder and others have never been through an obstacle course before! We stayed together as a team the entire way and it was such a blast!!! They a natural athletes but man, did they train their asses off for this! We trained by doing daily boot camp classes and running a green belt trail every Saturday morning for months! I couldn’t have asked for a better team! I must say that I very proud of myself for finally conquering that dam rope climb!! Woohoo!!!! More pic to come from the Spartan Race website but here are some photos friends and family took of us! Setting the Texas Female Powerlifting Record

Texas State Record

Even though I didn’t perform as well as I had hoped, it’s pretty cool to see my name as the record holder for my weight class!  Glad to get my first meet out of the way!  Now I’ve got to make it look pretty and hang on to that spot!
